Finding your life purpose, is it really that difficult?
Yes, for some it is extremely challenging and becomes an arduous drudge that sends people to living their life in victim land and spiralling further downward each day into a state of uncomfortable comfortableness or a light state of depression, it all gets to hard, they have no idea what they want to do, and worse still no idea where to start.
They desperately seek the one thing that will make them shine from the inside out, they know deep down it exists yet It remains elusive.
For others, once they find their purpose it seems easy to the outside world. Most likely it was a difficult journey for them also, but since they found it, the ones stuck in the drudge grow more jealous.
Living your purpose you sometimes forget what it was like living your life when you were in the drudge trying desperately to find what makes your soul sing and dance. Because, you have arrived, you have your purpose, you now feel differently, you found the reason you are here, the contribution you can make to our world to make it a better place. Yippee
The answer to the “ What am I here for” question OR at a more dangerous stage the answer to the question “What’s the point” is answered and it lifts you to a completely new and fulfilling place.
A place where you feel you have a reason for being, a reason for existing, you have something that you want to wake up to every day. You complain now, instead of not knowing what to do but now not having enough time in a day to fulfil your purpose, other things like housework and shopping get in the way of enjoying our purpose.
Your soul is really on fire and its smiles, joy and happiness all the way to your purpose and back.
To market to market..
Today I visited a market at a local school. Not having been to a market in a while and also on the look out for business reasons I didn’t quite know what to expect.
Besides the lovely soy latte and the warm sun shining down, I found a group of people with a common enthusiasm, all following their passions. I spent some time speaking with the people running the stalls and it inspired and lifted me even further.
I was enjoying my soy latte in the company of like minded, positive, go getters living and creating their dream, through following their passions directly to their purpose..
These people are here on a Sunday, they had brought all their products in from the car and set up for an early 9am start on a Sunday.
There was the lady who made the cutest dog collars and doggie bow ties, beautiful cupcakes, handmade soy candles, beautiful artwork, jewellery, fashion and homewares. Each stall, (although I had two favourites) was presented impeccably and you could tell a lot of time and love went into making each stall a special place in their hearts.
What oozed from the people I spoke to at lengths was their enthusiasm and their love of what they do. I listened to their stories and how they got started.
Like most people their stories are diverse but similar. They enjoy telling their story of how they went from working in a job they didn’t like, to something changing, then to being on the enjoyable, exciting yet at times scary roadtrip to their purpose.
A switch was flicked and all of a sudden they knew. One girl said to me today, “I remembered who I used to be”. After having an accident and leaving an office job she found herself at home unable to live her normal life. Although a miserable and difficult time what came next was finding something to fill her time, she returned to art, which turned into market stalls, an online shop and guess what it turned out to be her passion.
So how do I find my purpose?
Below I have given you some questions to help uncover your purpose. You need to get to know yourself, dive deep inside, have faith and be honest. Start here.
1. Write a list of all the things you are really, really good at
2. Write a list of all the things you love doing that make you feel excited, alive and enthused
3. Write a list of what you loved doing when you were a child
4. What are you doing when you lose track of time?
5. When you have free time, what do you naturally gravitate to?
6. If you were told today you had one year to live, what would you do?
7. What would you do if you won a million dollars cash, tax free, in the lottery today?
8. What is the greatest vision you have for your life?
9. What have you always wanted to do but been too afraid to attempt?
10. What one great thing would you dare to do if you knew you could not fail?
11. You are sitting at the back of the church as your eulogy is read out. What does it say?
12. What will you regret if you don’t do it? How can you make it happen?
13. What do you want to be remembered for?
14. What are the ten things you still want to do in your life?
15. Is there any one thing you can make a change to right NOW?
16. Once more, if you had all the money in the world and you never needed to work ever, ever again what would you do to occupy your time?
Sometimes it can be a long slog to find your purpose, mine took about 12 years to completely unfold.
But take a leap of faith, start today, do one thing in the direction of what feels good and see what unfolds.
Often one good thing leads to another and you look back and can see how far you have come and one day you will know you are living your purpose because you will feel it, you will just know.
Following your heart it is a really good place to start.
Good luck Lara and the doggies xxx
